NCC Names Dr. Marc Singer as Provost

Northampton Community College (NCC) has officially announced the appointment of Dr. Marc Singer the college’s provost and vice president of academic and student affairs. Singer’s appointment follows a national search that attracted the interest of an extremely qualified and highly diverse field of candidates.

As provost and vice president of academic and student affairs, Singer will report to the president and serve as the chief academic officer for the college, providing leadership for the NCC’s four schools as well as the student life and student affairs areas. He earned his doctorate in education from Athabasca University, Alberta, Canada. He holds master’s degrees in American studies from New York University and the University of Alabama. He holds a bachelor’s degree in English/American Civilization from Oberlin College, Oberlin, Ohio.

“We are very excited to welcome Dr. Singer to the NCC family,” said NCC President David A. Ruth. “His extensive teaching, research and leadership experience will help build on our momentum and take NCC to new heights of academic excellence.”

Singer comes to NCC from State University of New York’s (SUNY) Sullivan campus, Loch Sheldrake, New York, where he serves as vice president for academic and student affairs. He brings with him an extensive track record of accomplishments within higher education spanning more than 30 years including holding leadership roles at a number of colleges and universities.
