We’ve Got Character!

The Northampton Community College (NCC) athletic department won its 8th Region 19 Champions of Character Award for 2022-2023.

“I’m so proud of our student-athletes and coaches,” remarked Associate Director of Athletics, Adrian Yaguez. “They know coming in the door as freshmen that this award is a goal of ours and the returners and coaching staff really do a great job of reinforcing the importance of community service within our department.”

The award is presented annually to the institution that clearly demonstrates outstanding results in character development of its student-athletes and coaches by embracing the true spirit of competition through the five core values of respect, responsibility, integrity, servant leadership and sportsmanship. In addition, the winner must show outstanding involvement in the community.

Director of Athletics, Troy Tucker, said, “This award shows a level of commitment above the day-to-day practices and games. It represents a commitment to helping others and doing things the right way.”

NCC has been awarded the Region 19 Champions of Character Award for the past 7 consecutive years, with an additional award in the 2014-2015 academic year.
