As of July 3, the Eastern Monroe Public Library (EMPL)’s Pocono Township Library in Tannersville is closing its doors. Northampton Community College (NCC) Pocono campus will partner with EMPL to provide a service to those affected by this change. The campus will be a weekly stop for the EMPL Bookmobile service for community members. The Bookmobile is a mobile library that provides materials and services to patrons.
Every Wednesday, starting July 9, visitors will be able to get an EMPL library card from the Bookmobile, and any new or current EMPL patrons will be able to check out and return books and more each week. The Flag Circle outside of Keystone Hall will be the campus drop-off and pick-up area.
In addition, community members, especially those affected by the EMPL's Tannersville branch closure, can get an NCC Library card for a nominal yearly fee to borrow NCC Library materials. Community members can find more information about the Pocono Library here.
“We are excited to be a Bookmobile stop and to provide a viable option to the Tannersville patrons that have lost their home library. They can still visit a library close to home, and they have the opportunity to take advantage of our fantastic Pocono Library as an additional resource,” says Executive Dean at the Pocono campus, Dr. Precie Schroyer.
Check the schedule for the Bookmobile before heading to campus. For more information about the Bookmobile, contact Linda Crooks, Bookmobile manager, at lcrooks@monroepl.org or by phone at 570-421-0800 x309.
