NJCAA Honors Student-Athletes for Academic Prowess

Northampton Community College (NCC) softball has won the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) 2024-25 Academic Team of the Year, with student-athletes on the team earning a collective 3.41 GPA. Additionally, 13 student-athletes have received NJCAA All-Academic Team honors for academic excellence.  

The softball team is among 1,347 teams nationwide that achieved a GPA of 3.00 or higher. “I would like to congratulate our softball team on earning an NJCAA Academic Team of the Year award for their outstanding team GPA,” remarked NCC Director of Athletics, Troy Tucker, “Softball Coach, Erik Kutteroff, and his staff, have emphasized the importance of winning in the classroom and on the field from day one, and this group of Spartans proved that it could be done.” 

Of the 13 student-athletes on the NJCAA All-Academic Team, six earned Second Team Honors and seven were named to the Third Team. First Team honorees must achieve a perfect 4.00 GPA, Second Team honorees must achieve a 3.80 to 3.99 GPA, and Third Team selections must achieve a GPA of 3.60 to 3.79. “Being named to the NJCAA All-Academic Team is a tremendous achievement,” remarked Tucker, “It highlights thes student-athletes' ability to balance athletics and academics.”
