What is KEYS?

What is KEYS? KEYS is a collaborative program between the Department of Human Services and the Pennsylvania Commission for Community Colleges. KEYS is designed to help SNAP and TANF recipients attending Northampton Community College successfully complete their program of study. The primary goal of KEYS is to provide the services and support necessary to assist students in completing educational activities that lead to employment and self - sufficiency.

 

Who is Eligible for KEYS?

Who Is eligible? Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) and Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) recipients enrolled in a Pennsylvania community college may be eligible for the KEYS program. Eligibility is determined by County Assistance Office and not all majors qualify.

 

What Services Are Available?

At NCC, a KEYS student facilitator is available to meet weekly with KEYS students and assist them with a variety of services such as:

  • Course scheduling
  • Career guidance
  • Academic support
  • Financial aid applications
  • Connect students with supportive services available through the County Assistance Office (CAO) and at NC
  • Financial assistance with transportation, child care, books, education and training fees, equipment/tools and more (limitations apply)

How do I enroll in KEYS? If you receive TANF or SNAP and would like to learn more about KEYS, complete KEYS inquiry form here or talk to your caseworker at the CAO.

 

How to Apply for SNAP Benefits

  • Online: Apply at COMPASS
  • In Person: You can apply for SNAP and other benefits at your local county assistance office. Find Your County Assistance Office Here
