Communication Pathways

Your Learning Counts - In Every Direction

NCC offers opportunities for our students to transfer learning credit between non-credit courses in Leadership Learning and Development (LLD) and credit courses in Communication Studies.

  • Save time by getting credit for what you’ve already learned.
  • Earn credentials that boost your resume and career potential.
  • Expand your professional and academic opportunities.

How It Works – Two Pathways

A. Non-Credit to Credit

Follow the steps below to earn academic credit for eligible non-credit courses.

  1. Enroll in and complete two eligible LLD courses at NCC. Note the courses that can be converted in the chart below.
  2. If you'd like to pursue academic credit for your work, contact Communication Studies Program Coordinator Chris Armstrong at carmstrong@northampton.edu to be enrolled in the applicable Brightspace course. You’ll be notified once you have access.
  3. Complete the assignments and test in Brightspace.
  4. Submit the credit enrollment form in Brightspace.
  5. Once all assignments are complete, email confirmation to carmstrong@northampton.edu. You'll receive an email notification when your grade and credit have been officially awarded, along with information about additional opportunities available to you for similar credit work.

B. Credit to Non-Credit

Follow the steps below to earn professional non-credit certifications for eligible credit courses.

  1. Enroll in and complete eligible Communication Studies courses at NCC. Note the courses that can be converted in the chart below.
  2. If you’d like to pursue LLD credit for your work, contact Communication Studies Program Coordinator Chris Armstrong at carmstrong@northampton.edu to be enrolled in the applicable Brightspace course. You’ll be notified once you have access.
  3. Complete the assigned work in Brightspace.
  4. Once all assignments are complete, email confirmation to carmstrong@northampton.edu. You'll receive an email notification when your LLD/CBI credit has been officially awarded, along with other available opportunities such as similar credit work and a Professional Communication Certificate.
