Northampton Community College (NCC) has officially been recognized as a Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI), according to the U.S. Department of Education’s College Scorecard. This designation is awarded to colleges and universities where at least 25 percent of full-time equivalent undergraduate students identify as Hispanic or Latino.
According to The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU), NCC is one of only four colleges in Pennsylvania to be designated as an HSI.
Achieving HSI status marks an important milestone for NCC and reflects the college’s growing diversity and commitment to serving students from all backgrounds. The designation also opens the door to new federal funding opportunities that support student success initiatives, academic programs, and resources specifically designed to enhance outcomes for Hispanic and underserved students.
“This recognition underscores NCC’s dedication to equity, access, and inclusive excellence,” President of NCC, Dr. David A. Ruth, noted. “We are proud to support a vibrant student community and remain committed to expanding opportunities for all learners.”
NCC joins a national network of institutions focused on advancing educational attainment and economic mobility for Hispanic students, further strengthening its role as a community-centered college that meets the evolving needs of the region.
